the purpose of THIS WEBSITE:
On February 3, 2002, Todd, 19 years old, was involved in a serious automobile accident which has left him with a serious neck injury. This website was created to give friends and relatives a place to find information regarding his progress and latest information. It remains up today for informational purposes for others who may be in a similar situation.
The accident: (02-03-02 approx 12:00am)
Todd was the passenger in a car that was apparently speeding and lost control. The car jumped a curb sideways and struck a telephone pole at the rear of the car on the driver's side and spun out even further past the pole. There was a total of over one hundred feet of skid marks before and after the pole. The pole was cracked about 10' from the ground and there was shattered glass and pieces of the car all over the area. Todd ended up partially in the back seat.
Apparently the driver was speeding!
Apparently there was alcohol involved!
Todd's Injuries:
Todd's injuries include a severe broken neck. He has fractured C4, C5, and C6 vertebrae. The impact of the fracture caused the spinal cord to receive a blow much like a concussion. At this time this injury has left him paralyzed from the upper chest down.
Todd's surgery:
The doctor who performed the surgery on Todd was one of the very best neurosurgeons in the country. The repair included two rods attached to each side of the spine in the C4-C6 area to fuse and stabilize the broken vertebrae. Other small surgical procedures will be done at a later time.
Todd's activities and progress:
Now that Todd is home we will not
continue with his day to day activities.

** Benefit Tag Sale **
Thanks a bunch to Terry & Earl Desrochers who sponsored a tag sale at their home. All the proceeds where donated the Todd Dube Gift Recovery Fund. Also thanks to Sandy, Denise, Gloria, Leda and anyone else who contributed in any way. We appreciate your efforts.
** benefit night for Todd Dube **
The Benefit Night for Todd was a complete success! There were over 700 tickets sold and up to 400 people actually attended. What a night! The response was overwhelming! There was a huge raffle with almost 200 prizes all donated, free soda, some munchies and music provided by a local DJ. Channel 40 and 22 were on the scene and interviewed Todd and other family members. Words cannot express how incredible this party was.
Todd and family would like to sincerely thank all those who participated in the event especially the coordinators, all those who donated gifts and services, the attendees, those who donated but where unable to attend and everyone else who took part in their own way. Thank you and god bless all!
** Todd's IS home **
Todd's last day of therapy at Shepherd was May 3, 2002. His flight was late an hour coming in to Bradley. He is very glad to be home.
** Walk-a-thon at Chicopee Comp **
Students and teachers from Chicopee Comp who participate in the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Program have organized a Walk-A-Thon to raise money for The Todd Dube Recovery Fund. Students will be allowed to leave class and walk around the track for one period in the morning Wednesday, April 24. Participants who raised $25 or more will receive a T-shirt with the reminder " friends don't let friends drive drunk ". The students raised more than $1260 for the Todd Dube Recovery Fund. Todd and family would like to sincerely thank the students and teachers who organized this event. We appreciate your efforts.
